Phlebotomy Technician

 Daily Tasks
Collects blood samples from patients for laboratory testing. Also performs other duties such as point-of-care testing and specimen preparation.
Good manual dexterity, good communications skills, clerical skills, typing ability, reading and comprehension skills, positive and compassionate attitude, ability to work as a team member.
 Work Setting

Clinic draw rooms, patient hospital rooms.  Advanced phlebotomists may work in the emergency department, intensive care units (ICU) and with Pediatric patients as well.

 Work Hours
Monday-Sunday shifts. Some weekend work required. Varied schedule from 20 hours/week to 40 hours/week.
High school diploma or GED required including a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Customer service experience.
 Recommended High School Classes
Computer applications, health sciences, biology, chemistry, high level anatomy/physiology, math.
