Paramedic

 Daily Tasks
Paramedic provides Emergency Medical Transport via ground ambulance and administers high quality emergency medical care to ill and injured persons. Demonstrate clinical competency and compassion in providing for the physical and emotional needs of patients. With excellent judgement, prioritize decisions and act quickly in the best interest of the patient. Be self-disciplined, able to develop patient rapport, interview hostile patients, maintain safe distance, and recognize and utilize communication unique to diverse multicultural groups and ages within those groups. Function independently at optimum level in a non-structured environment that is constantly changing.

 Work Setting
Scene of traumatic or medical emergencies, ground ambulance transport to and between medical facilities. Non-structured, constantly changing.
 
 Work Hours
Casual to Full Time: Variable available schedule including day, nights, evenings, weekends
 
 Education
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Current certification as Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-Paramedic
  • Current state EMT-Paramedic Licensure/Certification 
  • Current International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or PreHospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification, and Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
 
 Qualifications
  • Meet education, Licensure/Certification requirements
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • Field experience in Emergency Medical Services
  • Must be proficient in English; must have ability to read, write and speak in English
  • Associate or baccalaureate degree in paramedicine is preferred
  • Experience as an EMT/Paramedic preferred
