Nursing Assistant
Daily Tasks |
Works under the supervision of a registered nurse to assist with the care of people of all age groups. Assists with activities of daily living, promoting the highest practical level of physical, mental and psychosocial well-being. |
Skills/Talents |
Communications skills, positive personality, human relations skills, multitasking, self-motivated, ability to work independently, ability to work with a team, professional image, respect diversity, flexibility, honesty and caring attitude toward people. |
Work Setting |
Hospital, long term care facility or home care. |
Work Hours |
Varied schedule including day, evening and night shifts, along with weekend and holiday hours. |
Education |
High school diploma or GED required, and nursing assistant registration certification or willingness to take nursing assistant class or test out for nursing assistant registration within four months of hire. |
Qualifications |
A working knowledge of state and federal regulations as well as previous experience with geriatric population preferred. |
Recommended High School Classes |
General computer applications, food and nutrition, health education, exploration of health careers, anatomy or physiology, biology, algebra, and a second language. |
