Nuclear Medicine Technologist

 Daily Tasks
Nuclear medicine technologists (NMTs) use radioactive materials, called radiopharmaceuticals, to create images of organs, study body functions, analyze biological specimens and treat disease. NMTs prepare the radiopharmaceuticals, administer them to patients, conduct imaging scans and process and enhance the images on a computer.
Communications skills, positive personality, human relations skills, multitasking, self-motivated, ability to work independently, ability to work with a team, professional image, respect diversity, flexibility, honesty and caring attitude towards people.
 Work Setting
Nuclear medicine procedure rooms on campus.
 Work Hours
Primarily day shifts, Monday-Friday, with some on-call requirements (including holidays and weekends).
Graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine technology program. Mayo Clinic has an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology Program.
Candidates must be board certified in nuclear medicine technology and maintain current knowledge and proficiency in nuclear medicine through continuing education.
