Work with nurses to provide direct patient care to people undergoing hemodialysis treatment due to kidney failure. Duties include:
Taking vital signs
Obtaining vascular access
Taking blood samples
Performing laboratory tests
Managing equipment

Work Setting
Dialysis Unit: Patient centered care in a fast-paced, technical environment.
Work Hours
Work flexible hours which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.
Education
Minimum Education and/or Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion in basic sciences OR Certified Nursing Assistant Training course required OR 1 year of direct patient care experience in a hospital setting or other health care setting OR RN student with 1 semester of clinical coursework completed OR completion of a Dialysis Technician training program OR two years of customer service.
Qualifications
Candidates must:
Have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Before employment, successfully complete the Ishihara's color blindness test.
Successful completion of Hemodialysis Patient Care Technician national certification exam, within 18 months of hire.
