Research Assistant

 Daily Tasks
Prepares slides, tissue, blood or other specimens for testing. Assists with surgical procedures on laboratory animals. Collects and records data and reports unusual results and outcomes. Keeps laboratory stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
Communications skills, positive personality, human relations skills, multitasking, strong organizational skills, self-motivated, ability to work independently and with a team.
 Work Setting
Research laboratories on campus.
 Work Hours
Primarily day shifts, Monday-Friday.
Usually requires an associate's degree in physical or social sciences. In the absence of a degree, the individual would need at least two years of post-high school education in biology or chemistry to have a good understanding of basic lab technique.
Must have knowledge of basic lab technique and computers, be familiar with medical terminology and have clerical and data entry skills.
