Billing Representative

 Daily Tasks
Audits/abstracts outpatient and inpatient medical records and identifies billing codes for services, such as consultations, procedures and tests. Applies current regulations, policies and procedures along with effective decision-making and problem-solving skills in the outpatient and inpatient coding process.
Understands medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes. Strong communication skills (verbal and written), human relations skills, multitasking skills, computer skills, ability to work independently, ability to work in team setting, sound judgment, and detail orientated.
 Work Setting
Office setting within the area being supported.
 Work Hours
Primarily day shifts, Monday-Friday.
Degree in Health Information Technology. Credentialed as a registered coder. Individuals with nursing degrees who have demonstrated proficiency in coding skills may not need credentials.
Proficient computer knowledge and usage, along with the various administrative software products used to support coding activities.
